ST. LOUIS, Mo. - In a significant move, over 300 bus drivers and monitors in Missouri have become members of Teamsters Local 610. Their collective decision comes as a step towards advocating for better pay, enhanced working conditions, and more influence in their professional lives.
Daniel Thacker, the Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 610, expressed, “We are so happy and proud to welcome our newest members to the Teamsters. These workers chose to come together and fight for a better future that includes fair wages, better benefits, and respect on the job. We are ready to fight for a strong Teamsters contract for the group.”
Despite facing a robust anti-union effort by Zum, the bus workers succeeded in their efforts to unionize. With the Teamsters' support, they are now gearing up to secure a fair and swift first contract.
Thane Wright, a proud member of Local 610, voiced his optimism, saying, “Becoming Teamsters means we have the support we deserve and the ability to negotiate a contract we have earned. We love this community and our work is essential to its success. We are ready to finally feel like that is appreciated.”
Teamsters Local 610 encompasses a wide range of workers across Missouri. Further details about their operations can be found at teamsterslocal610.org.
