Teamsters Railroaders Achieve Significant Wage Increases and Enhanced Benefits

(INDEPENDENCE, Ohio) – A new collective bargaining agreement has been successfully ratified by over 12,000 workers who are part of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) under the Teamsters Rail Conference. This agreement was reached with the National Carriers Conference Committee, marking a milestone for the workers.

Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien remarked, “Today’s ratification sent an unmistakable message to Corporate America about the power of the Teamsters Rail Conference. Railroaders are some of the toughest workers in America. And it is only because of their courage and conviction that they have locked in substantial raises and improved benefits while making no givebacks or concessions.”

The agreement covers employees from major carriers such as BNSF, Norfolk Southern, and Canadian National. Over the five-year period, workers will benefit from an 18.8 percent wage increase, along with enhanced benefits and additional time off.

Mark Wallace, President of the BLET and the Teamsters Rail Conference, stated, “Put simply, railroads would not run without BLET Teamsters. This contract goes a long way toward reflecting the value these hardworking men and women bring to this indispensable industry.”

This latest deal is part of a broader trend in 2025, where over 40,000 Teamsters railroaders from BLET and the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employes Division have secured new contracts.

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters, established in 1903, currently represents 1.3 million workers across the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. For more details, visit Teamster.org. Follow them on X at @Teamsters and on Facebook at Facebook.com/teamsters.
