(CHICAGO) – Emphasizing their need for a stronger collective voice and improved working conditions, a contingent of 24 RelaDyne Transportation employees has chosen to affiliate with Teamsters Local 705. This decision comes after a determined effort to secure enhancements in wages and benefits, despite encountering significant opposition from the company.

The path to unionization was fraught with challenges, taking 18 months of perseverance against the employer's tactics aimed at thwarting their efforts.

Juan Campos, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 705 and Director of the Teamsters Tankhaul Division, remarked, “Teamsters stick together no matter how hard the battle is. Once these drivers filed the petition, they endured blatant union-busting from the company. Their determination, grit, and solidarity made this win possible.”

Greg Whitten Jr., a driver and newly minted member of Local 705, expressed, “We never gave up on our fight to join the Teamsters. The company tried everything to slow us down, but with the support of Local 705 and Joint Council 25, we held strong and won the representation we deserve.”

Teamsters Local 705, already representing over 17,000 workers in the Chicago region, continues to grow its influence. For additional details, visit teamsterslocal705.net
