Pennsylvania Climbs to 11th in National Business Climate Rankings

Pennsylvania has surged to the 11th spot in Site Selection's 2025 Business Climate Ranking, marking a significant improvement of seven places from the previous year. The state now boasts the top business climate in the Northeast.

Less than a month ago, Pennsylvania was highlighted as the only state in the Northeast with a growing economy, according to the latest analysis by Moody's Analytics.

Governor Josh Shapiro's administration has been instrumental in elevating Pennsylvania's economic standing, drawing over $31.6 billion in private investments and creating more than 16,700 jobs across the state.

A Strategic Economic Approach

According to Site Selection Magazine, which evaluates tax climate, job growth, and the presence of fast-growing companies, Pennsylvania now ranks 11th in the nation for business climate. The state also secured the eighth position for the most Inc. 5000 companies.

"This new ranking from Site Selection Magazine underscores that our 10-year economic development strategy is producing real results and new opportunity for Pennsylvanians," said DCED Secretary Siger. "Under Governor Shapiro’s leadership, we are competing again by investing in our economy, strengthening communities, and making government more efficient."

The recent Site Selection ranking follows a Moody's Analytics report that places Pennsylvania as the only state in the Northeast with economic growth, reinforcing its leadership in the region.
