Union Skills Enhanced at Region 1A Summer School 2025
ONAWAY, MI – From July 27 to August 1, 2025, the picturesque Walter & May Reuther Family Education Center at Black Lake played host to the Region 1A Summer School.
Over 200 delegates attended the event, aimed at enhancing committee skills, promoting diversity, and boosting union awareness. The gathering featured a series of interactive workshops, collaborative discussions, and networking opportunities aimed at equipping members with the skills needed for increased participation and leadership within their local unions.
The educational sessions offered practical strategies and tools for effective committee work, emphasizing diversity to foster open dialogue and a more inclusive union culture. Special workshops on union awareness highlighted the organization's history and underscored the significance of solidarity in navigating contemporary challenges.
Participants also enjoyed the serene landscape of Black Lake, which served as a backdrop for forming new friendships and strengthening a sense of unity. Solidarity was a key focus throughout the week, integrated into both formal sessions and informal gatherings. As delegates engaged in group activities and shared meals, they reinforced bonds across local unions, fostering mutual support and a stronger grasp of collective action.
