QuaLex Manufacturing Expands in Pennsylvania, Creating 35 New Jobs

Pennsylvania Wins Major Investment Boost as QuaLex Expands

In a significant move for Pennsylvania's economic landscape, QuaLex Manufacturing LLC has opted to broaden its reach within the state, cementing its commitment to local growth and job creation. The company plans to lease additional space at its Franklin location, a decision that underscores Pennsylvania's appeal over Kentucky for business expansion.

Harrisburg, PA – Governor Josh Shapiro proudly announced a $1.3 million investment secured by Pennsylvania from QuaLex Manufacturing LLC. This investment is set to expand the company's operations in Venango County, meeting rising demands for its products. The expansion is poised to create at least 35 new full-time jobs over the next three years while maintaining 63 existing positions across the state.

QuaLex, known for its sheet metal and machining fabrication, has recently relocated within Franklin to a larger facility at 325 Buffalo Street. Thanks to Pennsylvania's backing, the company will lease an additional 30,000 to 40,000 square feet of space, further supporting its growth.

Governor Shapiro emphasized, "QuaLex Manufacturing’s decision to reinvest and expand here in Pennsylvania is going to create more opportunity for Pennsylvanians and grow our economy — it’s another sign that we’re making real progress on growth and economic development."

The Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) has extended a financial package to QuaLex, including a $100,000 Pennsylvania First Grant and a $105,000 WEDnetPA grant aimed at workforce training.

Rick Siger, DCED Secretary, remarked, “We’re proud to support QuaLex Manufacturing as they create good-paying jobs and help drive economic growth in Pennsylvania.” He highlighted the state's strategic advantages, such as access to major markets and a skilled workforce.

QuaLex Manufacturing produces various products, including fire truck cab assemblies and construction equipment. David Blackburn, President of QuaLex, expressed gratitude to the Shapiro Administration and DCED, stating, “We’re pleased that we could expand our operations and grow in Venango County, and look forward to being a fixture in the region for years to come.”

Jess Carroll, Business Outreach Coordinator for the City of Franklin, also acknowledged the support from the Commonwealth and Governor Shapiro. She emphasized the importance of such investments in bolstering the local economy and workforce.

The expansion project was facilitated by Governor Shapiro’s BusinessPA team, which specializes in helping businesses thrive in Pennsylvania. This initiative is part of a larger effort by the Shapiro Administration, which has attracted over $25.6 billion in private sector investments, resulting in more than 12,400 new jobs since he took office.

Governor Shapiro's economic agenda includes a 10-year Economic Development Strategy, with proposals to further boost Pennsylvania’s competitiveness. These include a $12.5 million allocation to WEDnetPA, $2 million for Career Connect internships, and several other strategic financial incentives.
