GE Aerospace Workers Rally as Strike Vote Looms Amid Contract Talks

GE Aerospace Workers in Erlanger Prepare for Possible Strike Amid Stalled Contract Negotiations

ERLANGER, KY— With the expiration of their contract looming on August 27 at midnight, hundreds of GE Aerospace workers, represented by UAW Local 647, are rallying in response to stalled negotiations with the company. The workers have expressed dissatisfaction with the company's proposals, which they feel do not adequately address critical matters such as job security, healthcare costs, and time off. A particularly challenging negotiation on Wednesday led the bargaining committee to walk out and push for a strike authorization vote.

WHO: UAW Local 647 members at GE Aerospace

WHAT: Rally preceding strike authorization votes

WHERE: GE Aerospace facility, 1800 Donaldson Hwy, Erlanger, KY 41018 (near the gate entrance at Delta Road)

WHEN: Thursday, August 21 at 1:30 p.m.

On Friday, August 22, the workers at the GE Aerospace facilities in Erlanger, KY, and Evendale, OH, will decide on authorizing a strike before their contract deadline on August 27 at midnight.

The employees, represented by UAW, have been in continuous discussions with GE management to secure a new agreement. Key issues at the forefront of these talks include job security, healthcare expenses, and time off. However, the management's responses have been seen as inadequate, with proposals that would result in a 40% increase in healthcare costs over four years or a failure to respond to proposals entirely.

In response, workers have shown solidarity through mass plant walks every Wednesday at both the Erlanger and Evendale locations.
