NUHW Endorses Eight Candidates to Flip California House Races

Union-backed Candidates Gear Up for Upcoming Elections in California

As election ballots are set to be distributed next week, candidates endorsed by the National Union of Healthcare Workers (NUHW) are ramping up their campaign efforts. The union is relying on its members and allies to secure victories in Congressional races.

Members of the public can get involved by participating in phone banking and door-to-door canvassing. Those interested are encouraged to fill out this form to sign up.

NUHW members can also support pro-worker Congressional candidates through contributions to the Committee on Political Education (COPE). Since federal political activities cannot be funded by union membership dues, COPE donations are crucial for electing individuals who align with the union's values. The union has prioritized eight candidates in California to help secure a majority in the House of Representatives that is favorable to labor interests:

11th Congressional District – San Francisco

Congresswoman Aisha Wahab

14th Congressional District – San Leandro, San Lorenzo, Hayward, Union City, Fremont, Dublin, Pleasanton, Castro Valley

State Senator Mike McGuire

1st Congressional District – Northern California counties

Randy Villegas

22nd Congressional District – Central Valley, including Bakersfield, Delano, and Hanford

Former State Senator Richard Pan

6th Congressional District – encompassing Sacramento’s northern and western suburbs

Sacramento Councilmember Mai Vang

7th Congressional District – including portions of Sacramento, Galt, and Rio Vista

San Diego Councilmember Marin Von Wilpert

48th Congressional District – encompassing much of Eastern San Diego County, including the cities of Temecula and Escondido
