UAW Endorses Eli Savit for Michigan Attorney General, Citing His Record

UAW Backs Eli Savit for Michigan Attorney General

The United Auto Workers (UAW) has officially endorsed Eli Savit for the role of Michigan Attorney General. This decision follows a vote by the Michigan CAP General Board, highlighting Savit as a steadfast advocate willing to challenge major corporate entities.

During his tenure as Washtenaw County Prosecutor, Savit has demonstrated a dedication to worker and consumer rights. He established Michigan's sole Economic Justice Unit, focusing on combating wage theft, consumer protection, and ensuring corporate accountability. His legal actions against opioid manufacturers resulted in nearly $50 million being returned to the community, specifically aimed at addressing the opioid epidemic.

If elected as Attorney General, Savit plans to launch a statewide Workers’ Rights Unit. This initiative would aim to defend workers from wage theft, unsafe work environments, and other corporate malfeasance.

“Eli Savit doesn’t back down from corporate power — he fights for justice for the working class,” said UAW President Shawn Fain. “While too many politicians talk about workers during election season and disappear afterward, Eli has actually gone after corporations that steal wages, rip off consumers, and poison communities. He’s proven he’ll use the law to hold powerful interests accountable.”

The UAW’s endorsement emphasizes Savit’s dedication to economic justice and the protection of worker rights. Throughout his career, he has committed not just to crime prosecution but also to holding businesses accountable for worker and consumer exploitation.
