Amazon Teamsters in Los Angeles are escalating their dispute by taking their protest lines to Amazon's DBK4 warehouse in Queens, New York. This move follows the Los Angeles-based DAX7 facility workers' campaign for improved pay and safety, which has been marred by Amazon's controversial termination of its contract with their Delivery Service Partner (DSP), Next Stop.

Randy Korgan, Director of the Teamsters Amazon Division, commented on the situation, "Amazon’s callous terminations show how little this company values the hard work that these drivers do every day and agitates workers all over the country to fight.” He emphasized the commitment of the DAX7 drivers to continue their struggle backed by the Teamsters union.

Amazon's actions against the DAX7 workforce mirror previous incidents at the DBK4 facility, where 100 Teamsters Local 804 members faced similar retaliations last September. The fallout from these terminations has sparked legislative moves in New York City, leading to the introduction of the Delivery Protection Act, aimed at mandating direct hiring of delivery workers by companies like Amazon operating in the city.

Sara Venegas, a DAX7 Amazon Teamster, expressed determination to continue their campaign, stating, “Every Amazon driver knows that our DSPs can be cut at any time. That’s why we organized with the Teamsters, to fight for real job security at DAX7.”

Latrice Johnson, a representative from the DBK4 facility, echoed the sentiment of solidarity and continued resistance, pointing out that such terminations are not isolated incidents within Amazon's operations. "Amazon is a horrible company no matter where in the country you are, but being a Teamster means solidarity through direct action everywhere," said Johnson.

With over 10,000 Amazon employees across 13 facilities aligning with the Teamsters, there is a growing demand for a union contract that promises wage increases, enhanced safety, improved benefits, and job security for these workers.

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters, established in 1903, represents more than 1.3 million laborers across the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. For further details, visit Teamster.org. Stay updated via X at @Teamsters or on Facebook at Facebook.com/teamsters.
