NNU Endorses Patty Garcia for Illinois' 4th Congressional District Seat

Patty Garcia Endorsed by National Nurses United for Illinois Congressional Seat

National Nurses United (NNU), the largest union representing registered nurses in the United States, has officially endorsed Patty Garcia for the 4th Congressional District of Illinois. With a membership exceeding 225,000, NNU's support highlights Garcia's longstanding commitment to healthcare justice, immigrant rights, and advocating for an economy that prioritizes the needs of working individuals over the interests of billionaires.

"Patty Garcia is a principled fighter who has consistently stood with nurses and our patients," stated Mary Turner, RN and NNU president. "She is willing to do the hard work of bringing people along in the progressive fight to transform our political and economic system. Nurses know they have an ally in Patty, and we look forward to working with her to protect our immigrant neighbors, win guaranteed health care through Medicare for All, and build a government and an economy that benefits working people."

Sharing her perspective, Patty Garcia expressed, "Nurses are on the front lines of the fight for health care justice. Their support means everything because they know our broken system up close. I’m proud to stand with them to win Medicare for All, defend our immigrant communities, and build a country that puts people before corporate profit."

NNU is known for endorsing candidates aligned with their core values, which include ensuring safe staffing levels in hospitals nationwide, upholding workers' rights to unionize, and guaranteeing health care access for everyone. A recent Gallup poll named nurses as the most trusted profession in the United States for the 24th year in a row. NNU is eager to support Garcia's election and collaborate with her on key issues impacting registered nurses, their patients, and broader communities.

National Nurses United is the largest and fastest-growing union and professional association of registered nurses in the United States with more than 225,000 members nationwide. NNU affiliates include California Nurses Association/National Nurses Organizing Committee, DC Nurses Association, Michigan Nurses Association, Minnesota Nurses Association, and New York State Nurses Association.
