Amazon Workers at West Coast’s Largest Air Facility Push to Join Teamsters Union
(SAN BERNADINO, Calif.) – Workers at Amazon’s KSBD air facility, the largest on the West Coast, initiated a union drive to join the Teamsters Union.
Workers began a card-signing blitz, showing support for unionization alongside Amazon’s nationwide air hub, warehouse, and delivery drivers. The facility employs over 1,300 workers seeking improved job security, compensation, and respect.
“Amazon may have the money, but we have the people and the power,” said Anna Ortega, a sort worker, emphasizing collective strength.
KSBD workers have been demanding safer conditions from Amazon, notably during California wildfires when they halted operations with full pay due to unsafe conditions. They’ve also conducted strikes against unfair labor practices.
“Amazon has tried to stop us, but organizing is beyond their control,” declared Cynthia Ayala, a ramp worker, highlighting the importance of their roles in nationwide delivery against a backdrop of neglect.
KSBD workers join a growing movement at Amazon facilities. Since October, Amazon drivers in Victorville and City of Industry, along with San Francisco warehouse workers, have joined the Teamsters. In New York and Illinois, hundreds unionized, and workers in Kentucky and California struck against labor practices.
