Pennsylvania Funds 25 Projects for Community and Economic Development

Harrisburg, PA – New Investments in Fayette County Projects

Rick Siger, Secretary of the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED), announced funding exceeding $619,000 for 25 initiatives through the Local Share Account (LSA) – Fayette County program. These projects encompass a range of objectives, including the restoration of a historic church, acquisition of advanced medical equipment, and the removal of derelict properties to stimulate economic growth and stabilize neighborhoods.

The LSA – Fayette County initiative aims to enhance community development, bolster economic progress, and support public interest endeavors within the county.

Secretary Siger emphasized the administration's commitment, stating, “Since day one, the Shapiro Administration has doubled down on supporting improvement projects like these to ensure we have strong communities to help grow Pennsylvania’s economy.”

Funding Allocations

Economic Development / Community and Neighborhood Stabilization 

  • $25,000 for German Township to acquire equipment for Hranec Corporation’s steel fabrication facility expansion
  • $30,000 for Nicholson Township to purchase a vehicle for winter road maintenance
  • $50,000 for Fayette County Redevelopment Authority to demolish and secure strategic properties

Marketing / Planning / Public Relations / Public Safety

  • $10,000 for Pennsylvania State Police Troop B Camp Cadet to enhance awareness of its youth training programs
  • $10,000 for Crimestoppers of Fayette County to expand its visibility through various media
  • $10,000 for Franklin Township to update its sewage facilities plan
  • $10,000 for Chestnut Ridge Chapter of Trout Unlimited to support environmental and educational initiatives
  • $23,000 for Brownfield Community Center to install an energy-efficient HVAC system
  • $13,000 for Albert Gallatin Human Services Agency, Inc. to equip the Masontown Senior Center
  • $10,000 for Vaganova Academy of Brownsville “Little Mozarts” to support its outreach performances and scholarships
  • $50,000 for West Virginia University Medicine – Uniontown Hospital for a cancer-detection device

  • $25,000 for Carnegie Free Library in Connellsville for façade repairs
  • $35,000 for Connellsville Township Volunteer Fire Department Building improvements
  • $45,000 for Fayette County for rights-of-way acquisition for the Sheepskin Trail expansion
  • $28,000 for Dunbar Township for municipal building upgrades
  • $10,000 for Menallen Township for New Salem Community Park improvements
  • $22,000 for Republic Volunteer Fire Company for station upgrades
  • $25,000 for Saltlick Township Lads & Lasses Little League for baseball complex enhancements
  • $14,000 for South Union Township for Hopwood Volunteer Fire Department Social Hall improvements
  • $35,000 for East End United Community Center for historic church repairs
  • $16,000 for Fayette County Community Action Agency for parking area improvements

Infrastructure Enhancements

  • $37,202 for City of Connellsville storm water management improvements
  • $22,000 for Henry Clay Township for bridge and culvert repairs
  • $13,000 for Perryopolis Borough for sidewalk replacement
  • $20,000 for Municipal Authority of the Township of Washington for solar panel installations

Administrative Support

  • $30,958 for the Fayette County Redevelopment Authority to manage the LSA Program

The Local Share Account (LSA) – Fayette County program, managed by the DCED, allocates a portion of the local share assessment from gaming facilities, in accordance with the PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act, to support vital community and economic projects in Fayette County.
