State Officials Urge Kaiser to End Behavioral Healthcare Strike
California Legislators Urge Resolution in Kaiser Labor Dispute
The ongoing labor dispute involving Kaiser Permanente and its behavioral healthcare workers has drawn significant attention from California's legislative body. State Senate President Pro Tem Mike McGuire and Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas, alongside a majority of state legislators, have collectively urged Kaiser to agree to the proposed terms for settling the strike. This comes amid increasing coverage by outlets such as Health Dive and Los Angeles' Spectrum television.
Activities on the Picket Line
The picket lines have been bustling with activities aimed at maintaining morale among strikers. A football-style tailgate party was held by the Anaheim line, organized by the Orange County Labor Federation. The federation, in collaboration with CLUE, plans more events, including a holiday-themed celebration at LAMC and in Anaheim. Lancaster's Antelope Valley line will host a pie-making contest to foster camaraderie.
Strikers have been proactive in reaching out to Governor Gavin Newsom and legislators, expressing gratitude for their support or requesting further backing. Meanwhile, the picket lines are vibrant with participants celebrating Superhero Week, donning masks and capes.
Support and Hardship Funds
For those facing financial difficulties due to the strike, hardship fund applications are due by Friday at 11:59 p.m., with disbursements scheduled for the following Friday. Applicants can review the official rules for disbursement here and submit their application form here.
Donations remain crucial as weekly disbursements are capped at $250. Strikers are encouraged to share the donation links within their networks to ensure adequate support.
