PSA and Air Wisconsin Flight Attendants Protest for Fair Wages
WASHINGTON, D.C. (December 17, 2024) — Demonstrations involving PSA and Air Wisconsin Flight Attendants took place at six airports during the first nationwide American Eagle Day of Action amid the bustling holiday travel season.
These Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, are demanding changes in their pay structure. Despite operating flights under the American brand, they receive an average of 45% less pay compared to American's own cabin crew. The attendants insist that regional airlines should align with American mainline's contract terms, which include substantial pay raises, boarding pay, retroactive pay, and better scheduling.
Although PSA is a wholly-owned subsidiary and Air Wisconsin is a regional partner, American Airlines' management ultimately dictates the pay and conditions for these American Eagle carriers. In response to prolonged negotiations, 99% of Flight Attendants voted in favor of a strike authorization.
The protests, taking place at key PSA and Air Wisconsin bases, form part of a series of demonstrations by Flight Attendants nationwide. These actions occur as the holiday travel season reaches its peak, particularly with the upcoming Christmas rush.
