NUHW Hosts First California Governor Candidate Forum at Leadership Conference

NUHW Hosting California Governor Candidate Forum

The National Union of Healthcare Workers (NUHW) is once again hosting the first forum for candidates running to be the next Governor of California.

This 90-minute forum will commence at 10 a.m. on Sunday, September 29, during the NUHW Leadership Conference in San Francisco.

The forum will be broadcast live in English and Spanish on the NUHW YouTube channel, and also through the Los Angeles Times, their media partner. A recording will be available on the NUHW YouTube channel after the event.

The candidates participating in the forum include State Senator Toni Atkins, Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis, State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond, and former State Controller Betty Yee.

Questions will be directed to the candidates by moderator Lisa Matthews from the Associated Press, along with Senior Political Reporter Melanie Mason from Politico and Los Angeles Times Politics Editor Laurel Rosenhall.

Although it is too early for NUHW to make an official endorsement for the 2026 gubernatorial elections, there will be an informal, non-binding poll conducted after the forum.
