AFSCME Endorses Vice President Kamala Harris for President

WASHINGTON – AFSCME President Lee Saunders announced AFSCME’s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris for president:

“Today, AFSCME’s International Executive Board unanimously endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president of the United States.

“Vice President Harris is seasoned, tough, and tenacious. She has been a dynamic pro-worker champion throughout her years in office. She understands that unions and the working class drive our economy and deeply respects the work AFSCME members do to strengthen our communities.

“With an extraordinary record of accomplishment over the past three and a half years, from the American Rescue Plan to student debt forgiveness and reining in health care costs, she has consistently fought for us. As chair of the White House Task Force on Worker Organizing and Empowerment, she developed key policy recommendations to amplify the voices of working people.

“Vice President Harris is the right person to meet this moment. She will fight to save American democracy and carry a pro-worker message nationwide, highlighting the dangers of Trump’s Project 2025 to working people, the economy, and our nation.

“This candidacy is inspiring and historic. Vice President Harris has been breaking barriers her whole career, now she has the opportunity to become the first woman and the first woman of color to hold the highest office. AFSCME will help her get there.

“We are all in for Kamala Harris. From now until November 5, we will mobilize communities nationwide, turning out the vote to make Kamala Harris the 47th president of the United States.”
