Washington, D.C.—In a bold move to counteract the influence of Elon Musk’s newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), the AFL-CIO has unveiled the Department of People Who Work for a Living (DPWL). This initiative aims to ensure that the voices of American workers are prioritized in government decisions over the interests of influential billionaires like Musk.

Speaking on the initiative, AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler stated, “The government can work for billionaires or it can work for working people—but not both.” Shuler expressed concerns over Musk's actions, which include efforts to reduce essential services, accessing private Treasury data, and unilaterally affecting government agencies such as USAID.

Elon Musk's creation of DOGE has raised eyebrows, given its broad ambitions to reform the federal bureaucracy.
