Kentucky and Wyoming Governors Lead Economic Development and Revitalization Task Force Meeting

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon recently hosted a Economic Development and Revitalization Task Force meeting, focusing on "Governors’ Investments to Build a Strong Workforce in Emerging Sectors".

Joined by high-profile industry and government figures, the panelists explored workforce needs and opportunities stemming from recent federal investments under several Acts. They highlighted the necessity of industry, government, and educational collaboration to cater to current and future workforce needs.

Governors Beshear and Gordon shared their states' strategies, focusing on infrastructure investment, job creation, and technological advancement. Beshear stressed the importance of collaboration with various sectors to meet the needs of new and growing employers.

Gordon, on the other hand, underscored the significance of customized strategies for economic development and emphasized a data-driven approach to developing workforce solutions.

During the meeting, strategies led by various Governors to support the infrastructure, energy, and technology sectors' workforce were discussed. Focus areas included energy resilience, critical minerals supply chain, workforce reintegration strategies, K-12 education opportunities, and modern workforce childcare challenges.

The conversation will continue in the National Governors Association following the successful adoption of the Task Force’s 2024 federal priorities.
