CMA CGM is set to make a transformative impact on the U.S. maritime and logistics industry with a substantial $20 billion investment. This initiative aims to strengthen economic ties, enhance export capabilities, and create 10,000 new jobs, marking a significant development in the longstanding relationship between the global shipping leader and the United States.

During a meeting in the Oval Office, CMA CGM owner Rodolphe Saadé shared these ambitious plans with US President Trump, highlighting the company's commitment to bolstering U.S. maritime infrastructure and logistics networks. As a part of this strategic initiative, the French company will expand operations of its American subsidiary, American President Lines (APL), enhancing the country's maritime economy over the coming four years.

Enhancing U.S. Shipbuilding and Maritime Employment

CMA CGM's investment is aligned with the U.S. Administration's goals to enhance domestic shipbuilding capabilities. By increasing APL’s U.S.-flagged fleet, the company supports the creation of new jobs and skills in the maritime sector, reinforcing its role as a key player in transporting government cargo and safeguarding national security interests.

Infrastructure Development at Key U.S. Ports

The group's investment will lead to the expansion of infrastructure at essential ports, including New York, Los Angeles, Dutch Harbor, Houston, and Miami. This will not only improve operational efficiency but also advance safety measures and digital connectivity in the supply chain.

Advanced Warehousing and Logistics Platforms

Plans include the development of cutting-edge warehousing and automotive logistics platforms across the United States. These efforts aim to fortify the domestic supply chain's security and reliability and maintain the nation's leadership in logistics services.

Establishing a New Air Cargo Hub in Chicago

Chicago will host a new air cargo hub, enhancing air freight capacity with the deployment of five new Boeing 777 freighters. Operated by American pilots, this move will bolster the transportation of critical goods and strengthen ties in U.S. trade networks.

Investment in Research and Development
