Georgia Exports Surpass $53.1 Billion, Outpacing National Growth Rate
Georgia Breaks Records with $53.1 Billion in Exports
ATLANTA – February 14, 2025 – The State of Georgia has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing $53.1 billion in exports, marking a 6.4% year-over-year increase. This growth rate notably exceeds the national average of 2.3%, positioning Georgia as a key player in U.S. trade. The state advanced to sixth place nationally in terms of trade value, facilitating $198.7 billion in trade across 222 countries and territories.
Governor Brian Kemp highlighted the success of local enterprises, stating, “With more than 87% of Georgia exporters being small businesses, these record-breaking numbers represent economic opportunity and success in every corner of the state.” He emphasized that in 2024, Georgia's export growth outpaced national figures, reflecting the effectiveness of strategic investments.
Maintaining its No. 12 spot for export value in the U.S., Georgia exported to 219 unique destinations in 2024. Civilian aircraft and parts were the top exports, followed by motor vehicles, computers, telephone sets, and medical devices.
GDEcD Commissioner Pat Wilson praised Georgia’s robust economic framework, stating, “Georgia’s diverse industry base and connectivity to more than 200 global markets create a more resilient state economy.” The state’s infrastructure, including ports, railways, and airports, facilitates business expansion and global trade.
Georgia's international trade is supported by representatives in major markets who ensure the state’s exporters connect with global customers. These markets accounted for 66% of exports and 83% of bilateral trade in 2024.
Deputy Commissioner of Trade Lizann Grupalo recognized the role of global partnerships: “A fourth consecutive year of record-breaking exports is an incredible accomplishment that requires strong partnerships at all levels.” She noted the importance of international representatives in providing market insights to assist Georgia's small businesses.
Key infrastructure assets include Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the world’s busiest airport, and the Port of Savannah, the fastest-growing container gateway in the U.S. Additionally, Georgia boasts extensive rail and highway networks, enhancing its trade capabilities.
