SMYRNA, GEORGIA – April 2, 2025 – The city of Smyrna is set to become a hub for safety technology innovation as Flock Safety, a prominent player in the field, launches a new manufacturing facility. This strategic expansion is expected to bring about 210 jobs to the area over the next three years, with the company investing approximately $10 million into the project.

Governor Brian P. Kemp, with First Lady Marty Kemp, joined Flock Safety CEO Garrett Langley and other dignitaries, including Smyrna Mayor Derek Norton and Cobb County Chairwoman Lisa Cupid, to inaugurate the 97,000-square-foot facility. The event marked a milestone for the Georgia-based company, which already supports over 250 jobs in the state.

Governor Kemp praised Georgia's pro-business environment, stating, “In Georgia, we foster a business environment where innovative companies can get off the ground and grow into leaders in their industry while operating in safe communities.” He highlighted Flock Safety's success as a testament to this approach.

Since its inception in 2017, Flock Safety has equipped more than 300 law enforcement agencies and 100 businesses in Georgia with its crime-reducing technology. The company expanded its offerings last year by launching the Drone as First Responder system, following its acquisition of Aerodome.

CEO Garrett Langley expressed enthusiasm for the company's growth in Georgia, saying, “We feel fortunate to have our roots in Georgia, the state that is undisputedly the leader in the American aerospace industry, and are proud to invest further by creating hundreds of advanced manufacturing and aviation jobs locally.” Langley emphasized the transformative potential of their Drone as First Responder technology.

The Smyrna facility will focus on producing Flock Safety's advanced public safety tools, including the innovative drones, refurbishing damaged devices, and assembling solar panels. Recruitment for the facility is currently underway, with full operations anticipated by 2027. Those interested in joining the team can apply at www.flocksafety.com/careers.

Smyrna Mayor Derek Norton welcomed the initiative, noting, “Smyrna’s convenient location and diverse talent pool make the city an ideal environment for corporate innovation opportunities. We appreciate Flock’s confidence in Smyrna and welcome them to our community.”

Cobb County Chairwoman Lisa Cupid echoed this sentiment, saying, “We are thrilled to welcome Flock Safety to Cobb County. We have been early partners with Flock Safety by deploying their public safety technology, and I am happy to see this relationship evolve in our community.”

Katie Kirkpatrick, President & CEO of the Metro Atlanta Chamber, highlighted the significance of Flock Safety’s expansion, stating, “Flock Safety’s expansion is yet another Georgia business success story. This growth in Cobb County shows why companies that start here stay, put down roots, and keep thriving.”

The project was supported by a collaborative effort involving the Georgia Department of Economic Development’s Global Commerce team, City of Smyrna, Cobb County Economic Development, Metro Atlanta Chamber, Georgia Power, and SelectCobb.

GDEcD Commissioner Pat Wilson pointed out the critical role of aerospace products in Georgia’s export economy and praised Flock Safety’s innovative contributions, stating, “Georgia’s strength in aerospace innovation and manufacturing is driven by strategic investments in education and a collaborative, business-friendly environment.”
