Gallup Poll Shows Surge in Union Support, AFSCME Responds
WASHINGTON – AFSCME President Lee Saunders commented on Gallup’s Labor Day poll revealing rising public support for unions, nearing historic levels:
“Americans want the freedom to organize. From cultural institutions to health care and child care, workers nationwide demonstrate union power in negotiating better pay, enhancing benefits and job security, improving worker safety, and securing robust retirement plans. Unions empower working people to advance.
“AFSCME is energized this year. In 2024, we have the chance to elect pro-worker officials to the White House, Congress, state legislatures, and more, who recognize unions' role in expanding the middle class and will advocate for worker rights. With public support for unions at near-record levels, a brighter future for all working families is attainable. We are prepared to organize and mobilize to achieve this vision.”
