In a major development impacting mail delivery services across the United States, over 500 drivers from 10 Roads Express have initiated a strike spanning eight states. The action comes after allegations of the company's failure to engage in fair labor negotiations and its presentation of an unsatisfactory contract proposal.
John A. Murphy, Director of the Teamsters Freight Division, indicated the drivers' frustrations, stating, “Our members have had enough. They are on strike because 10 Roads Express refuses to offer a contract that recognizes our hard work and the essential service we provide.” Murphy criticized the company's unwillingness to negotiate a fair deal, attributing the shutdown of operations to its stance.
10 Roads Express, a key contractor for the United States Postal Service (USPS), has been under scrutiny for allegedly not compensating its workers adequately despite its significant revenue from USPS contracts. The ongoing strike threatens to impede national mail services until a more favorable contract is proposed by the company.
Keith Damguard, a veteran driver with nearly a decade of service, expressed the workers’ stance: “We move the mail safely and on time, but 10 Roads Express is not treating us with the fairness and respect we deserve. We’re done with the unfair treatment from a company that takes millions from USPS while leaving workers behind. We will not accept anything less than what we have earned and deserve.”
As part of the larger International Brotherhood of Teamsters, which represents 1.3 million workers across North America, these drivers are determined to secure a fair contract. For more updates, visit Teamster.org or follow their social media pages on Facebook and X.
