Juneteenth, a day celebrating the end of slavery in the United States, offers a profound acknowledgement of the strength, resilience, and essential contributions of Black Americans. President McGarvey emphasized that it is a time not only for reflection but also for recommitment to justice, equity, and inclusion.
“Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States and stands as a powerful reminder of Black Americans’ enduring strength, resilience, and invaluable contributions to our nation. It is a day to reflect on our nation’s history and a call to action to continue advancing justice, equity, and inclusion,” McGarvey stated.
NABTU actively embraces Juneteenth by fostering opportunity, dignity, and respect across all work environments. The union believes that America's strength lies in embracing diversity, dismantling obstacles, and amplifying every voice. “At NABTU, we honor Juneteenth not only through remembrance, but by advancing opportunity, dignity, and respect for all workers on every jobsite and in every community. America is strongest when it opens its doors wider, breaks down barriers, and lifts up every voice. On this day and every day, we reaffirm our commitment to building a fairer, more just future for all,” McGarvey affirmed.
