Guest Services Workers at Lumen Field Join Teamsters Local 117

In a significant move towards improving their working conditions, over 500 guest services employees at Seattle's Lumen Field have opted for union representation under Teamsters Local 117. Through a card check process validated by an independent arbitrator, the local union has been designated as the official bargaining representative for these workers.

Currently employed by First and Goal, Inc., which manages Lumen Field, the employees expressed the desire for clearer scheduling, better wages, enhanced communication, and overall improved working conditions. These concerns prompted the workers’ move to join forces with Local 117, hoping for better negotiation power and representation.

Paul Dascher, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 117, stated, “We are thrilled to welcome more Lumen workers to our union. We look forward to meeting with workers and hearing their concerns. I have no doubt that we can negotiate a strong contract that gives workers the voice they deserve and recognizes them for the important services they provide.”

Among those advocating for unionization was Nick Achmon, a guest services worker at Lumen Field, who highlighted the critical role of unions in shaping the middle class. He emphasized, “Unions helped create the middle class in this country. Being a Teamster means we’ll have a strong backbone. We can fight for our rights, make demands, and things will change.”

Achmon, who previously worked at Climate Pledge Arena under Local 117, played a key role in encouraging his colleagues at Lumen Field to join the union efforts. In the upcoming weeks, union representatives plan to engage with the new members to identify their negotiation priorities and select rank-and-file leaders to participate on the union's negotiations committee.

Teamsters Local 117, representing about 17,000 workers across 200 employers in Washington State, continues to extend its influence and support to more workers seeking representation. For further information, visit teamsters117.org.
