(PHOENIX) - Teamsters Local 104 Secretary-Treasurer, Karla Schumann, expressed concern about Cruise’s autonomous vehicle testing in Phoenix due to a history of safety incidents.
“Cruise has a deeply troubling record. It should not be allowed to test its vehicles on Arizona roads,” said Schumann.
Representing thousands of drivers, the Teamsters argue that members and the public feel unsafe with Cruise vehicles on the road. The union cites incidents where Cruise vehicles injured a pedestrian, collided with fire trucks, blocked waste trucks, and almost hit children.
“We urge officials and regulators to require Cruise to release its safety data. The public deserves transparency from a company using our roads for autonomous technology testing,” added Schumann.
The Teamsters oppose Cruise’s resumption of autonomous vehicle operation in Arizona and calls for measures to prevent a repeat of California incidents. For more information, visit teamsterslocal104.com or our Facebook page at facebook.com/ibtlu104.
