(SEATTLE) – Lumen Field's parking attendants have joined Teamsters Local 117, enhancing worker representation in Seattle. This decision followed a card check process by an independent arbitrator.

Paul Dascher, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 117, expressed excitement: “These workers play a vital role at one of the Northwest’s key venues. We look forward to negotiating a union contract that acknowledges their contributions.”

The 44 attendants, employed by First and Goal, Inc., sought unionization for secure scheduling, family wages, and improved working conditions, strengthening their voice in labor negotiations.

Aklilu Worke, a Lumen Field attendant, stated, “Joining Teamsters ensures our right to wage increases and job security. We can now strive for these goals as a united group.”

Dascher commended the company’s neutrality during the unionization, highlighting the global spotlight due to FIFA 2026 World Cup events at Lumen Field. “Seattle showcases respect for workers, a strong statement with the World Cup approaching.”

Local 117 will soon engage with members to determine negotiation priorities and elect union leaders for the committee.

Gashaw Abebe, another attendant, emphasized the union's impact: “Forming a union helps us attain better hours and benefits, reflecting the value of our service to stadium visitors.”
