A combined loan and grant totaling $9 million has been allocated to the West Dallas County Water Authority to enhance water infrastructure in West Dallas and Marengo Counties, benefiting over 7,400 rural residents.

Rep. Sewell emphasized, “Access to clean, safe water is a basic human right. This funding is crucial for improving water infrastructure, connecting previously unserved rural areas in Dallas and Marengo Counties.”

The West Dallas Water Authority Board of Directors noted, “This project marks a significant step in community service development. We anticipate long-term benefits for the people of Marengo County and appreciate the joint efforts that made this possible.”

U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack stated, “Investments like these are vital for rural America. Modern infrastructure attracts employers, supporting job creation and economic growth in small towns and remote communities.”
